Biography
REMO (ray-mo) has become one of independent musics most sought-after artists, thanks to the internet and its music fans. No stranger to the technologys rapidly changing atmosphere, REMO (always spelled in upper-case letters) blends Classic Rock with modern sounds and delivers his unique style of recording wizardry. There is no secret to REMOs proficiency; he was a professional recording engineer from 1983 to 1993 and has over 100 albums to his credit, mostly for major labels. He plays keyboards, which cover a great number of instruments and synthetic sounds, even guitar. But, he says, My first instrument is my voice. Born Remo Leomporra Jr., he was raised in Philadelphia. REMO has had a flair for sound for as long as he can recall. At 15 he was smitten with early versions of synthesizers and became intrigued with the recording process. He dabbled with the electronic instruments, played in local bands and during college he decided to make a go at recording professionally. REMO began to write music while he was making a living as a recording engineer. He put in 60-hour weeks at sessions and over the course of a decade found the work was taking a toll. I retired at the peak of my career, he says, I needed a change of pace. He quit, married and went into a business unrelated to music. But it wasnt the end of his musical endeavors. I realized, thanks to my wife Amy, music is a part of me and I needed to get back into it, somehow. So, REMO began writing songs for himself and developing a home studio where he could utilize all he learned and become a singer/songwriter on his own terms. He turned to the new digital technology and spent plenty over the years in hardware and software. Today he is exclusively digital-oriented, using a PC and its fully digital platform for all recording. Despite running a successful, full-time business, REMO has been extremely prolific, presenting his musical efforts over the internet. He has released a CD, 2001 A Rock Odyssey and in 2002 will release another, Made To Order and also in 2004 Rock This Way. He has just released his CD entitled "Sonic Justice". I want to grow with song and sound, he says about the future. I hope to work with the many styles of music I recorded for other artists. I want to offer and share music that is in my heart and mind with the hope I will touch others with an original product.

I'll admit it: I am 'musically impaired'. Troughout my life, for one reason or another, I have never been 'in synch' with my peers when it came to music. At last, with the advent of web radio, I find that I have not been alone in the musical universe and there actually are people oout there who like their music the way that I do. I have onle been listening to Rock On Radio for a short time, but I have yet to 'turn it off' because I did not like the song. I work in a Radio Frequency Shielded lab and cannot, therfore, receive "Airwave Radio". I have listened to some other web stations, but only a few have been as satisfying to me as your own. I cannot claim that your 'broadcast' has been saved my sanity, but it has certainly slowed the desent into madness! And, finally, your song "Reformation" is beyond excellent (and even 'world class'). Had I the talent to do so, "Reformation" is the sort of tune that I would write. 'Kick-ass' doesn't quite cover it. Well done, you! |
