Biography

StrangeCloud consists of the duo of Fred Wheeler and Jeff Anderson. Both members write songs and work together on songs. Both play guitar and sing. Fred also plays keyboards and does drum programming. Jeff also plays bass and percussion. The first full length CD "Formation" was released in early 1999, followed by "Acousticity" in October, 1999. Both CDs focused on the alt country-pop sound and provided the basis for extensive live performances throughout Minnesota over the next few years. The latest CD "Psychedelectric Orange" is more rock and pop, but still has some alt country undertones, and was released in May, 2004. In recognition of their vocal harmonies, StrangeCloud was invited as one of the special artists to perform at Bob Dylan's 60th Birthday Party Celebration in Minneapolis in May, 2001. While those earlier projects focused on the acoustic, alt country sound, the newer material on "Psychedelectric Orange" is more pop and rock oriented. Think Beatles, Pink Floyd, Traveling Wilburys, Beach Boys, Bee Gees, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, America, Wilco, and Simon & Garfunkel all brought together in a 21st century mode, shaken and not stirred. These upbeat songs have a heavy emphasis on pop melody ala Lennon/McCartney, feature layered 3 and 4-part harmony, and an abundance of sonic pleasure. Included on "Psychedelectric Orange" are special licensed versions of the Beatles classic "Things We Said Today," and Pink Floyd's early opus "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun."

The music of StrangeCloud is great! Although they have different kind of styles, the melody is always good and the text is easy to sing and remember! I am glad that I found their music through internet a few years ago and I always enjoy to listen to their songs! Fieneke from the Netherlands
